The Subclass 186 visa is an Australian Permanent Residency Visa for skilled workers

The 186 Employer Nomination Scheme visa enables skilled workers who have an employer to sponsor them the opportunity to apply for Australian Permanent Residence.

The visa has a Direct Entry pathway and a Temporary Residence Transition Pathway for applicants who meet work requirements while holding a Subclass 482 visa nominated by their sponsoring employer.

Expert advice for the complex 186 visa

The team at MyAusPath work with employers, business owners, HR Managers and individuals to make the complex 186 ENS application process simple and stress free, and to make sure the employer and employee meet the different requirements for DE and TRTS applications.

186 ENS Common Criteria

Most applicants for the 186 ENS visa need to be under 45 years of age. They also need to meet health, English language and character requirements.

There are some exceptions to the age limit and English requirement, which is why it is important to seek specific advice for your particular situation.

186 ENS Temporary Residence Transition Stream

To apply for a 186 TRTS visa an applicant is required to have worked for their sponsoring employer while holding a Subclass 482 visa.

TRTS applicants do not require a Skills Assessment because their work experience with their sponsoring employer shows that they have the skills required to work in Australia.

English language requirements are different for the TRTS visa. There are also English exemptions available to some 186 TRTS visa applicants.

186 ENS Direct Entry Stream

To apply for a 186 Direct Entry visa an applicant is required to hold a Skills Assessment for their nominated occupation and have at least three years of relevant work experience.

Applicants are required to meet skill, health, English and character requirements.
